Cub Scout Pack 222 is chartered to
Maple East Elementary School in
Williamsville, NY, and is part of the
Onondaga District
of the
Greater Niagara
Frontier Council.
Williamsville is a village located in
Amherst,
a town located northeast of Buffalo, New York.
(Maple East is techically outside the boundaries of the incorporated Village
of Williamsville, but is part of what might be called "Greater
Williamsville", as it is in the
Williamsville Central School District
and serviced by the Williamsville Post Office).
Our Pack was chartered in 1985, and currently has 45 Scouts in 7 Dens, as
eight boys from the now-retired
Den 14
just crossed over into Boy Scouting.
WOW! Did anyone else think that was the best
Blue & Gold Breakfast our Pack has ever had?
Let's give a huge shout-out to Darlene, Marian, and
everyone else who was responsible for making this a day to remember!
We thought that the food at Sean Patrick's Emerald Isle was great, we appreciated Boy Scout Troop 457 helping with the Webelos Crossover Ceremony (Cubmaster Lanighan did an outstanding job running the ceremony), the demonstration from the Amherst Police K-9 unit was really cool, and the prizes were incredible! What a lot of hard work must have went into contacting all those places!
Your faithful Committee Chair emeritus (Dave) would like to thank all of you for the beautiful plaque, and to our esteemed Cubmaster for his kind words. Working for the Pack these last three years has been an honor, and I will truly miss the great kids in the Pack, the many friends I've made, and the satisfaction of doing all I could to help make Cub Scouting a positive experience for all involved. It would not have been nearly as much fun if it had not been for the hard work and cooperation of my fellow leaders and parents, who were there when we needed them. I'm also grateful to my wife and kids, who helped behind the scenes in many anonymous ways. Thanks, everyone!
Our March Pack meeting will feature the Wolf, Bear, and Webelos Ceremonies, plus presentations from any Dens who wish to participate.
On Thursday, January 24, Bill Sullivan and Dave Yearke used our track to help Country Parkway run their Pinewood Derby. We'd like to recognize the efforts of our assistants, John Sullivan and Tommy Yearke, who helped set up and tear down the track, and took turns running the computer and resetting the gates at the end of each race. Nice job, boys!
We are establishing a cleanup committee to patrol FAME Park on weekends, when there is no custodial staff to attend to it. Marian Morales will be coordinating which Dens will be responsible for various weekends.
We have reserved site 4A (the "Sir Gareth" campsite) at Camp Scouthaven (see this map) for Resident Camp Session 3 (July 15-18, 2002). We would like to get people to sign up as soon as possible; please contact Jean-Claude Thill if you are interested in attending, and would like more info. The theme this year is Return To Camelot; for online information on Camp Scouthaven, please follow this link. If you are interested in the weekend camping sessions, we have an on-line version of the form here, in four parts, one for each page: Front Cover, Inside Left (Form), Inside Right (Info), and Back Cover (More info). Also, we have our own Scouthaven Page, but it could really use some updating from some of the folks who went this past year. How 'bout it, folks?
