Our first Pack meeting of the year will be on Monday, September 17th, at 7:00 in the Maple East Auditorium. Please bring your checks for the registration fees and the activity fees. We will be handing out various bits of information regarding the Pack year, and will be looking for help from the parents.
Roundup will be on September 24, at 7:00 PM in the Maple East Auditorium. Any boys, ages 6-10, who are interested in joining our Pack should attend. Parents should bring a pen to use for filling out forms, and their checkbook. Current members of our Pack should not attend.
September 24 is also the start of our yearly Popcorn sale. The kits will be given out during the September 17th Pack meeting and at Roundup.
We will be visiting the Corn Field Maze in Wheatfield on September 30th at 2:00 PM. Please join us at this interesting site!
Our annual Fall Encampment will be held on the U.S.S. Little Rock on October 5-6. The cost is $33 per person. Please bring checks to the first Pack meeting if you are interested.
Our October 25 Committee meeting has been moved ahead one week, to Thursday, October 18, in order to avoid a conflict with Maple East's Fun Night. It will be held in Room 50, as usual.
We had almost 30 kids attend Roundup! Look for lots of new faces at our next Pack meeting, and give them a hearty welcome!
Don't forget that it's popcorn selling season. The sale ends on October 27th, so you still have lots of time to sell. There are prizes to win, and the more popcorn you sell, the more money our Pack will have to do fun things this year!
Bill Sullivan will be holding a Pinewood Derby workshop on
Monday, December 3 at 6:30 at Maple East.
The purpose of the workshop is to give tips on how to build a car.
The meeting is primarily directed at the new scouts and parents but
anyone can come. By the way, the official Pack rules for this
year's Derby can be found here.
Popcorn money is Due on Monday, December 3rd. If you haven't paid yet, please do so as soon as possible. Thanks!
Our December Pack meeting has been changed from Monday, the 17th, to Wednesday, the 19th, to avoid conflicting with the fourth grade concert. We will be having the Bobcat ceremony, and will also be collecting clothes to give to the needy of Western New York. Please bring either new clothes, or used clothes that are in good condition, so that we can show the true spirit of Scouting.
In the calendars that were distributed, the Blue & Gold Breakfast was listed as being on February 26th. It is actually scheduled for Sunday, February 24th. We apologize for the confusion.

One of the highlights of our Scout year, the Pinewood Derby, is coming up! Weigh-in is Wednesday, January 9th, and the Derby itself is Friday, January 11th. The official Pack rules for this year's Derby can be found here.
Everyone should have gotten their invitations to the Blue & Gold Breakfast; please try to get them back to Darlene Carroll as soon as possible.
Again, it includes a buffet-style breakfast (free for Scouts in our Pack), the Crossover Ceremony for our second-year Webelos Scouts, and Officer Dave Starke of the Amherst Police Canine Unit will be bringing Razor and LC, two of their police dogs. This will be a great program and the boys are going to love it. If you need a copy of the invitation, click here for a copy in Microsoft Word format.
We hope that everyone had a great time at the Pinewood Derby. I think the Pack owes a big round of applause to Bill Sullivan, the chair of the event, and all the people who worked very hard to make it happen, including Paul Morales, who did a great job with the computer; Gary Brick, who reset the lanes and gathered up the cars between races; and all the runners who helped get the cars back and forth between races and queued up in the lanes, including Paul Aufschlager, Steve Becker, Bill Grieshober, Mike Townsend, and Jean-Claude Thill (sorry, but there were so many people walking around that I lost track of everyone helping; please let me know if I've neglected to give you the credit you deserve).
All links on the Links page have been checked and updated, and a couple of new ones added. I would especially like to make Den leaders aware of the programs available in the Nature Center at Fort Niagara State Park. Scouts from several Dens recently completed their Geologist Badge requirements there, and they also offer programs for the Forester Badge and other such requirements; I highly recommend it.
