Acknowledgements
This is definitely one hobby where you can't work in a vacuum.
I owe thanks to many people for their input and assistance,
and these folks stand out:
- My Mom and Dad, who have provided me with many family stories
and who sparked my interest in this project;
- My wife, Laura, and my children, Tom and Jill, who have exhibited
much patience with me as I work on this;
- My grandmother, Alma Gruber, and my great aunts, Dody Stucke and
Marie Harlach, with whom I spent many hours around the kitchen
table getting them to remember relatives and stories;
- My second cousin, Jan Baumgartner (Yearke), whose LDS pedigree
sheets were a great starting point;
- My great uncle, Frank Yearke, who was the first Yearke I know of
to trace the family tree, and who had many useful notes;
- My great-grandfather, Charles Doster, who wrote down some
useful dates and places for his parents and grandparents, and
my grandmother, LeElla Yearke, who passed these notes and some
of her own along to me;
- Jean Balent Penner, who provided me with a lot of information
on the Detroit Manquens;
- Norman and Lawrence Yearke, who both contributed information
via phone calls and mail;
- Dale Manquen, who sent me a lot of information on the
Buffalo Manquens;
- Sandy Cerenzia, who also sent me a lot of information on the
Buffalo Manquens, and with whom I've traded scans of some great photos
and documents;
- Jillaine Smith, who has a
Concordia Cemetery
web site that was valuable to me, and who helped get some burial
information translated (more about that
here).
- Lt. Michael Kaska of the Buffalo Police Department, for finding
information about Albert Yearke's police career;
- All the folks who answered my e-mail and mail surveys;
- And anyone else whom I may have forgotten to mention, but have
not forgotten their work.
Please let me know
if I've neglected to mention you.
