It's fall, which is probably my favorite season around here (actually, I'm pretty fond of all four, and I like having four to choose from)! Watching the leaves turn color, drinking fresh apple cider from the Williamsville Water Mills, enjoying football and hockey, and eating hearty food again after a summer of hot dogs and hamburgers (don't get me wrong, I love them, too!), all make for a wonderful time of year.
Last Saturday, we drove with my parents up to Watt Farms, just north of Albion, New York, on Route 98. The kids had a great time, and we bought some nice gifts and delicious fudge. We continued up 98, then crossed over to Route 18 to get to Brown's Berry Patch, which is also a lot of fun. Their Dutch apple pies are not to be missed, and the kids get a big kick out of watching the goats do their tricks. We then continued on Route 18 to Olcott Beach in Newfane, and looked out over Lake Ontario while browsing through some little shops. Afterwards, we had a nice dinner in Lockport, at The Village Eatery on Davison Road, then stopped at Niagara County Produce (aka Millersport Market) for some supplies, then went home. A most pleasant day!
Oh, another really cool thing, new this fall, was the Corn Field Maze in Wheatfield, just North of the bridge over Ellicott Creek. We went with Tom's Cub Scout Pack and had a really nice time!
