Our organizational meeting will be held on Thursday, August 26th, at 7:00 PM at the Clearfield Library. All Cubmasters, Den Leaders, Committee members, and parents interested in helping the Pack are asked to attend. If you are a Den Leader and cannot attend, please send a representative. If you cannot attend and would like to help on the Committee or with an event, please contact Dave Yearke via e-mail to yearke@eng.buffalo.edu or by calling him at 626-4896. For more information on the kinds of help we need, please see this page.
Roundup will be held on Monday, September 27th (not the 20th as previously reported), at 7:00 in the Maple East Auditorium. Parents of returning Scouts, and new Scouts and their parents, should plan to attend. Please bring the registration fees, which will cover a year's membership plus a subscription to Boy's Life Magazine ($34 for new Scouts and parents, $25 for returning Scouts and parents, and $17 for additional Scouts in the same family).
We will also be collecting for the Fall Encampment and the Camporee, both of which are described below, and will be distributing the sales materials for the popcorn fundraiser.
We will be having our Fall Encampment (sleepover) at the Buffalo Zoo on Friday, October 8th. The cost is $22 per Scout and $15 per adult. We will get to see the animals at night, and will be able to look at them using flashlights. Get a check to Rob Robinson if you are interested in attending.
Our October 25th Pack meeting will be a kind of "welcome back" for all our Scouts. Bring flashlights, as Mrs. Gillick will be reading Hallowe'en stories.
Our November 29th Pack meeting will feature the Bobcat Ceremony, and our guest speaker will be Mr. Richard Dutton, a world-champion kite flyer, who holds the world record for most box kits on a single piece of line (150!). He will be bringing some exotic kites and talking about kite flying and his experiences around the world.
The popcorn money will also be due at this meeting, as we have to have it to the Council by next week.
At our November 29th Pack meeting, Mr. Richard T.B. Dutton spoke about kite flying. He presented a slide show that showed how kites were used throughout history, showed many of his unusual kites, and showed videos of his world-record attempt to fly 110 box kites on one piece of string, and of a new hobby, "kite surfing". We hope to have him back in the spring, when he will show us how to make our own kites and help us fly them. If anyone knows where we can get scraps of Tyvec building material, it would be greatly appreciated, as it makes a great kite fabric.
Our next Pack meeting will be on Monday, December 20th, and will feature the Webelos Ceremony. Please note that this is one week earlier than usual due to the Winter Recess.
It's time to start thinking about the Pinewood Derby! By now, all the
Dens have received their cars; we will have the rules posted shortly.
The Derby itself will be held on Friday, January 14th, and weigh-in will
be held two days earlier, on Wednesday, January 12th. We are hoping to
get a new computer system attached to the track before then, so that the
times between heats will be shorter. As in past years, we will give
trophies for first, second, and third place in each rank, plus a
"best car" trophy voted on by the Scouts. Oh, and each Scout will receive a
snazzy patch like the one on the right!

Our January Pack meeting will feature the Webelos Ceremony and the Arrow of Light Ceremony. We will also have some games and some sing-a-longs to complement these important events.
The February Pack meeting will be held on February 27th at the Main-Transit Fire Hall, and will feature our annual Blue & Gold Breakfast. The theme this year is "camping". Registered Scouts are free, adults will cost $8.50, and children will cost $6.50. The money should be collected by the Den Leaders and returned to the Pack, along with a head count, at the February 17th committee meeting. We will be having the Webelos Crossover Ceremony, and all Dens are going to have the opportunity to perform a skit, do a sing-a-long, present projects or photos, or whatever else they want to do. Dens are also encouraged to make centerpieces with a camping theme.
Our March 27th meeting will feature the Buffalo Zoo ZooMobile, which should be a lot of fun!.
It's almost time for the annual Scouting for Food drive. Scouts will be dropping bags off at neighbor's houses on April 1st, and picking them up on April 8th. Thanks to Den 2 for coordinating this event, even though they've already crossed over!
The annual Scouting for Food drive is in progress! Hopefully all our Scouts have dropped off bags at the houses of neighbors or relatives, and will pick them up on April 8th. Thanks to Den 2 for coordinating this event, even though they've already crossed over!
Don't forget, our May 20th Pack meeting will be held at the Camporall at Chestnut Ridge State Park. Please try to register as soon as possible, using the forms distributed at the last couple of Pack meetings.
We'll be marching in the Williamsville Memorial Day parade on May 29th. This is quite an honor, and should be a source of pride for parents and Scouts alike, so please try to attend. Scouts should be in full uniform. We may even try to walk in straight lines this year!
We will NOT be marching in the Memorial Day Parade this year, as too many Scouts will be not be able to attend. We will try again next year. Sorry about that.
Our "official" Pack summer camping weekends are July 27-30 and August 5-6. Please try to sign up as soon as possible so we can keep our site reservations!
We'll be going on the Maid of the Mist on June 16, 2000. Please plan to meet at Prospect Point at 6:00.
August 4th we'll be meeting at Dunn Tire Park for a Buffalo Bisons baseball game! And, there's fireworks afterwards!
