Roundup, for all boys in grades 1-5 who are interesting in joining Cub Scouts, will be held on Monday, September 25th, at 7:00 PM in the Maple East Auditorium. The costs are $25 to cover registration and Boys' Life magazine, plus a $36 activity fee (both of which are refundable based on individual popcorn fundraising sales).
Our first Pack meeting, for returning Scouts, will be held on Monday, September 11th, at 7:00 PM in the Maple East Auditorium.
Our Fall Encampment will be at Old Fort Niagara on October 13-14, 2000! We will get there at around 7 PM, sleep overnight in one of the buildings, and leave around 11 AM the next morning. While we're there, we will get to participate in some of the historical activities. The cost is $12 per person, and every Scout must be accompanied by an adult.
Popcorn orders are due at Monday night's Pack meeting, no exceptions! We have to get the master forms to the Council on Tuesday, so there is absolutely no slack time. In fact, if your Scout is already done selling, you can drop off the completed order forms at 136 MacArthur Drive this weekend. Thanks, everyone!
Pack 222 will be having an ice skating party at the Amherst Pepsi Center on Saturday, November 4, from 5:00 until 5:50 PM. Scouts skate for free, not including rental equipment. Families are welcome; the cost will be $2.00 for each additional person. Use of protective equipment (helmet, wrist guards) is encouraged. This should be a lot of fun!
Our next Pack meeting, on October 30th, will feature the Bobcat Ceremony and some activities to get us in the Hallowe'en mood. Don't forget that the popcorn order forms are also due at this meeting.
The Pinewood Derby cars were given to the Den Leaders at the last Committee meeting, so that they can distribute them to the Scouts in their Dens. This will give everyone lots of time to build their dream car. Copies of the Official Pack Rules were distributed with each car, so that each Scout knows what's allowed and what's not.
The popcorn will be available for pickup on Saturday, November 18th, from 9 AM until noon, at 136 MacArthur Drive. Dens are encouraged to pick up their orders as a unit, if possible. The money will be due at the November 27th Pack meeting. If you're interested, here are some statistics:

The week of February 5-9 is Scouting Anniversary week. To show our support of Scouting, we are asking all Scouts to wear their uniforms to school on Wednesday, February 7th.
We will be having a sledding/tobogganing outing at Chestnut Ridge Park on Sunday, February 11, starting at 1:00 PM. It should be fun!
Our annual Blue & Gold Breakfast will be held on Sunday, March 4th, at the Old Red Mill restaurant, 8326 Main Street, in Clarence, starting at noon. Every Scout should have gotten the reservation form in the mail by now; if they didn't, you can find it here. Scouts in our Pack will be free, adults will pay $9 each, and children other than the Scouts $6.50 each. The Breakfast will feature the Crossover ceremony, where our second-year Webelos graduate into Boy Scouting, and Dr. Birdd of Buffalo State College and the Buffalo Museum of Science, who will be giving a talk on flight and space. It should be fun! Darlene Carroll is chairing the event; if you'd like to help decorate, or with other tasks that may need doing, please contact her.
We hope that everyone had a great time at the Pinewood Derby. We'd really like to thank all of the volunteers who helped out to make it a success, especially Bill and Kathi Sullivan (for organizing and running the event), Kelly Lanighan (for procuring the popcorn maker), Steve Bezinque (for patiently loading up the cars for each race), Paul Morales (for running the computer), Jim Stabel (for running around and helping in various ways), and to everyone else who we may have forgotten to mention here, but were very important nonetheless. We'd also like to thank the Scouts and their parents for practicing good sportsmanship during the event.
Please note that the Wolf and Bear award ceremonies, originally scheduled for the Blue & Gold Breakfast, have been moved to the March 26th Pack meeting. This meeting will also feature the various Dens doing skits, leading songs, showing projects, or whatever else they feel like doing.
Speaking of ceremonies, thanks are in order to Marian Morales and Gretchen Thill, who are taking over the Advancements position from Pat Perkins, who will be leaving the Pack next month when her Den advances into Boy Scouts. Thanks!!!
Our annual Scouting for Food drive is coming up, with bag dropoffs scheduled for the morning of March 31, and pickups on the morning of April 7. We consider this to be one of our most important activities, as it helps some very needy people and demonstrates one of the primary purposes of Scouting, helping others. Thanks to Chris Sabuda and Den 2 for coordinating this event.
Also on March 31, we will be having a Spring Outward Bound at the Penn Dixie Site in Hamburg, starting at 2:00 PM. Click here for a map to the site.
We hope that everyone enjoyed the Blue & Gold Breakfast. I think it goes without saying that Darlene Carroll did an outstanding job of organizing and running the event, and deserves a lot of thanks for a lot of hard work. Congratulations to the Scouts who crossed over into Boy Scouting, and thanks to Dr. Birdd for an interesting and entertaining presentation on space.
At our next Pack meeting, to be held on April 30, we will have a Native Mohawk talk about his people's customs and heritage. This should be interesting!
