Old News (1999-2000):

We'll be having an organizational meeting on August 26th at the Clearfield Library, and are getting ready for Roundup on September 20th. For more information, go to the Events and Calendars page. If you'd like to see what you can do to help the Pack, go to the Leaders and Committee Members page.

New Note added 29 Aug 1999: All GIF images have been replaced by PNG images, due to some new patent issues raised by Unisys, Inc. If your browser doesn't support PNG images properly, try upgrading to either Internet Explorer 5.0 or Netscape 4.7. Otherwise, please let me know what browser you're using, and the version number, and I'll try to help.

Important Note! The date for Roundup has been changed from September 20th to September 27th. Please note this change, as well as a few others on the Events and Calendars Page.

At the August 26th organizational meeting, we decided to participate in the Council Trail's End Popcorn Sale fundraiser and the Mischler's fundraiser. These will go a long way towards offsetting Pack costs, and hopefully we can either eliminate the $30 activity fee, or greatly reduce it. If you'd like to see what you can do to help the Pack, please go to the Leaders and Committee Members page.

We're sleeping over at the Buffalo Zoo! We have booked Friday, October 8th, at the zoo as our Fall Encampment. Details are now available on the Events page ...

If you'd like to see what you can do to help the Pack, please go to the Leaders and Committee Members page.

1999-2000 Program Help Guides have been purchased for the Cub Scout Den Leaders; the Webelos Guides are on order, and will be purchased by the Pack for the Webelos Den Leaders.

We'd like to have a nice Pack showing at the Onondaga District Camporee on October 16th. Please try to keep that date free. More information can be found on the Events page.

We hope your popcorn sales are going well! We've decided that, to make things more convenient for everyone, we will be collecting the order forms at the October 25th Pack meeting. We will leave it up to the Den Leaders to decide whether they want to collect them, or if they want the individual Scouts to bring them to the Pack meeting.

The Webelos program helps are in, and we have purchased them for all the Webelos Den Leaders. We also have a bunch of Cub Leader program helps still available. If you need a copy of either, please contact your faithful webmaster. I will bring them to the October 21st Committee meeting, which I hope all the Den Leaders will attend.

The rules and information page for the Pinewood Derby is online! You can get to it via the Events and Calendars page.

The December 20th meeting will not feature the Webelos Ceremony, as originally planned. Please remember to bring your Den donation baskets.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the popcorn sale! We raised $1,257 for the Pack! Let's try to do just as well, or even better, at the next fundraiser! For the final statistics, go to this page.

We are sorry to say that Stella Gillick has resigned as an Assistant Cubmaster. We will miss the enthusiasm and organizational skills she brought to the Pack Leadership, but she hopes to continue to help as much as she can. Kevin Lanighan has agreed to become our new Assistant Cubmaster, and we welcome his support. Kevin's first act was to schedule the Buffalo Zoo ZooMobile for our March 27th meeting; we think everyone will enjoy this!

Leaders: The University of Scouting is on February 26th, 2000, at Lancaster High School. Please let us know at the February 17th Committee meeting if you plan on attending.

The Onondaga District's Ten Commandments Walk has been changed to March 11th, 2000, one week earlier than previously reported. Contact Frank Mischler at 634-1375 (work).

Our March 27th meeting will feature the Buffalo Zoo ZooMobile, which should be a lot of fun! Families are welcome to attend!

From what we've heard, this year's Blue & Gold Breakfast was a success! The boys seemed to have a lot of fun as they presented projects, sang songs, and performed skits. The Webelos and their parents looked proud during the Crossover ceremony, and rightly so. There are many thanks in order:

(I hope I didn't forget anyone.)

The Buffalo Geological Society is having their 32nd annual Gem, Mineral, and Fossil show on Saturday, March 18, from 10 AM until 8 PM, and Sunday, March 19, from 10 AM until 6 PM, at the Erie County Fairgrounds. There is a $3.00 donation, free parking, and kids under 12 are free. More information can be found at the Council.

Don't forget to pre-register for Camperall 2000 on May 20th! For more information, go to this page. Remember, this is taking the place of our May Pack meeting, and we hope everyone will attend!

Our April meeting, which is being held earlier in the month than usual (April 10th), will feature the Tiger Cub Graduation, a presentation on Camp Scouthaven, a sing-a-long, and much more!

Kudos to our new Cubmaster, Kevin Lanighan, for organizing the ZooMobile visit! It sure looked like everyone enjoyed it; if you'd like to see this become an annual event, let us know!

The Pack would like to acknowledge the contributions over the past few years of Ron Kuntz and Linda Eaton, who really helped keep the Pack together and organized! Ron has resigned as Pack Treasurer, and Linda's Den has crossed over into Boy Scouts.

We'd also like to recognize the contributions that Rob Robinson has made to the Pack over the last few years. Rob has stepped down as Cubmaster, and has named Kevin Lanighan as his successor. Thanks, Rob, for all you've done! Thanks to Kevin, also, for taking on this responsibility.

We gratefully acknowledge Carubba Collision for their sponsorship of our Pinewood Derby.

There is a "March in the Park" to commemorate Earth Day/Arbor Day 2000 on Saturday, April 29, starting at 10:30 AM, in Lancaster's Westwood Park. There will be a three mile walk along the walking path and the nature trail. Groups should pre-register by calling the Lancaster Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department at 684-3320.

Also on Saturday, April 29, is the Cub Scout Fishing Derby at Camp Schoellkopf. The fee is $7 for a Scout-adult team, and $5 for each additional family member. For more information, click here.

We will NOT be marching in the Memorial Day Parade this year, as too many Scouts will be not be able to attend. We will try again next year. Sorry about that.

There are no more Pack meetings until September, but that doesn't mean that Pack 222 won't be doing anything! We are working on some fun activities for the summer that we're sure you'll enjoy!

We went on the Maid of the Mist on June 16th, and on August 4th we'll be going to a Buffalo Bisons game. We hope you're having a fun summer, and hope that you've been able to partake in one or both of these events.

Our "official" camping weekends are July 27-30 for the resident camp (Scout plus adult), and August 5-6 for the weekend camp (Scout plus adult and/or Scout plus family). Click here for more information.
