Committee Meeting Notes for February 21, 2002
This meeting was held in Room 50 at Maple East at 7:00 PM, and ended
at about 8:30 PM. In attendance were:
- Paul Aufschlager
- Darlene Carroll
- Bill Grieshober
- Kevin Lanighan
- Marian Morales
- Chris Sabuda
- Kathi Sullivan
- Mike Townsend
- Dave Yearke
The following items were discussed:
- We started by kibbitzing a bit about the redistricting, and how
it might affect the Pack, both in terms of Scouts and leaders.
- Dave explained that, in the next week or so, he'll be putting
together a CD-ROM containing all of his notes, agendas, letters,
etc., and will turn it over, along with all other Pack assets
in his possession, to Kevin.
- It was noted that a few Committee members will be leaving the
Pack after Sunday.
- Cubmaster's Report:
- February meeting (Blue & Gold Breakfast): Will feature
the Crossover Ceremony and the K-9 Police.
- March meeting: Will feature the Wolf, Bear, and Webelos
Ceremonies, plus "show 'n' tell" opportunities for the Dens.
- Den 14 will do the flag ceremony at the February meeting.
- Den 8 will do the flag ceremony at the March meeting.
- Feb 24th Blue & Gold Breakfast (B&G):
- Darlene has heard from all the Scouts; 42 are attending, with
a total head count of 138 people. We have five guests, including
members of Boy Scout Troop 457 and Mr. Gaughan.
- There will be assigned seating this year, to keep Dens together.
- Here is the proposed sequence of events:
- Flag Ceremony
- Opening Remarks
- Crossover Ceremony
- Breakfast
- Closing Remarks
- K-9 presentation
- This is going to be great!
- FAME Park cleanup - no one has been doing it but the park has been
clean. Dens are encouraged to sign up.
- Advancement - Not much to report. The "missing" Webelos II badges
finally came in.
- Summer Camp - Nothing to report.
- Membership - The carbon copies of the forms we submitted have been
returned, which is a good sign; the computer versions should be in
the Pack mailbox soon.
- Web pages - Dave will continue doing them until a replacement is found.
- Treasurer's report - We are healthier than projected, and should have
about $500 in the bank after the Blue & Gold.
- It was decided to wait until after the Blue & Gold Breakfast to
decide who will fill vacated positions such as Committee Chair.
- Dave asked if Neighborhood 19 kids could continue with the Pack,
should they be moved to Maple West. The Committee agreed with
this request. There was some discussion about whether Dodge
Elementary has a Cub Scout Pack, and if kids from there would
be welcome.
- Bill Grieshober has obtained a donation of Buffalo Bisons tickets
from Rich products. It should be a lot of fun!
- We also talked about other summer activities, such as going on the
Arcade and Attica railroad again.
- We talked about fundraising. There was interest in doing a
consignment popcorn sale in the fall, setting up in front of
Wal*Mart or some such place, with each Den taking a turn manning
the table. We also talked about a spring sale, possibly at
the Bison's game we'll be attending.
- We talked about booking a fall encampment soon, either at Old
Fort Niagara or at Allegheny State Park. Either would be great,
and, by booking it early, we could advertise it on the Roundup
flyers and posters next fall.
- The meeting concluded with Dave telling everyone he'd miss them ...
