Committee Meeting Notes for March 22, 2001
This was our first "virtual" committee meeting, and was held via e-mail.
It was well-received, and we may do more meetings this way next year.
The following items were discussed:
- I thought the Blue & Gold Breakfast went great. I can't thank Darlene
Carroll enough for all the effort she put into it, including the thoughtful
little touches like the fish centerpieces (our fish, BeeGee, is doing
fine). The food was very good, the room was nice, and Dr. Birdd was
entertaining and informative, as he always is.
- At the March 26th Pack meeting, we will present the Wolf & Bear
badges, and each Den will present a skit, song, or project.
- At the April 30th Pack meeting, Mr. Thomas will be speaking about
Native Americans.
- Reminder: Our Spring Outward Bound will be at the Penn Dixie Site
(Hamburg) on March 31 at 2:00 PM.
Given the weather, I think our sage Assistant Cubmaster
was correct when he said this could be a muddy activity. Old clothes
and rubber boots are probably going to be the order of the day, but
it should still be an awful lot of fun ...
- I'd like to welcome Marian Morales and Gretchen Thill as our new
advancement chairs, replacing Pat Perkins. Thanks for taking on
this responsibility, it's really appreciated!
- The web pages are a bit out-of-date, but not too bad. I'll try to
update them this weekend.
- Scouting for Food is coming up. Chris Sabuda is coordinating this
activity. Thanks, Chris! I personally think this activity is one
of the most important we do all year; I don't think the "helping
others" aspect of Scouting is emphasized enough in the Wolf/Bear/
Webelos books, and we should be looking ahead for more opportunities
like this.
- Last year, we didn't march in the Memorial Day parade due to a lack
of interest. I think this is quite an honor, and would like to see
us do this. Do you think there will be sufficient interest?
- It's not too soon to start thinking about Summer activities. If
you and your Den would like to coordinate something fun for the Pack,
please let us know. We should have enough funds to subsidize several
such activities this summer.
- Oh, by the way, Linda Pinski informed me that Den 3 will be doing the flag
ceremony at the March meeting, and Chris Sabuda informed me that he will
have the Scouting for Food Bags at the Pack meeting. Den leaders should
plan to pick up about five bags for every Scout in their Den. More info
on the food drive will follow in the next day or so.
