Committee Meeting Notes for February 15, 2001
The meeting was held at Maple East, in Room 50, at 7:00 PM, and ended at
around 7:45 PM. In attendance were:
- Darlene Carroll
- Kevin Lanighan
- Laura Yearke
- Dave Yearke
The following items were discussed:
- We talked about what a great job Pat did with the Arrow of Light
ceremony at the last Pack meeting.
- We are hoping for feedback on the Troop 262 meeting that was
attended by some of our Webelos Scouts last month.
- We wondered if anyone went to Chestnut Ridge Park, despite the
lack of snow.
- Plans for the Blue & Gold Breakfast are proceeding nicely.
Darlene has heard back from approximately half of the Pack, and
has done a lot of work asking local businesses for contributions
for centerpieces and other decorations for the event. Dr. Birdd
will be talking about flight and space, which should fit in
nicely with the various science-related badges and requirements,
and be a lot of fun, also. Dr. Gibbs and Mr. Gaughan were
sent invitations to attend, our treat, for all they do to support
our Pack. We estimated that the Crossover ceremony would take
about 15 minutes, so our tentative schedule is:
- 12:00 - Start, flag ceremony, opening remarks
- 12:10 - Crossover ceremony
- 12:25 - Eat
- 1:00 - Dr. Birdd's presentation
- The March 26th Pack meeting will feature the Wolf and Bear
ceremonies, and will be a "show and tell" meeting, where every
Den can do a skit, lead a song, show off projects they've worked
on, or whatever else they want to do. We can talk more about
this at the March 22nd Committee meeting.
- Den 10 will do the flag ceremony at the Blue & Gold Breakfast,
as this will be their last time with our Pack. Den 3 will do it
at the March 26th Pack meeting.
- Kevin will pick up additional summer camping resident camp flyers
at the Council, so we can have a display set up at the Blue &
Gold Breakfast with all the information.
- Pat Perkins couldn't attend the meeting, as she was having her
very last Den meeting, but asked if we would be giving the boys
Boy Scout handbooks as gifts, as we have done in past years; we
agreed that is the right thing to do. She is also going to have
up to three Scout leaders at the B&G, and asked if we could
pay for their meals; again, we agreed to do so.
- The web pages are up to date, with all scheduled events, meeting
times and places, and so forth.
- The Spring Outward Bound at the Penn Dixie site in Hamburg is
still scheduled for March 31st at 2:00 PM.
- We have a healthy treasury, and should be OK for any summer
activities we wish to plan.
- Chris Sabuda and Den 2 are coordinating the Scouting for Food
drive this year, with bag dropoffs happening on March 31, and
pickups on April 7. It is suggested that the boys drop their
bags off at neighborhood houses early in the morning, and that
they staple or tape a note to the bags explaining who they are
(we've had problems in past years with Boy Scouts taking bags
that our Pack has dropped off, and this will help avoid that
confusion). Hopefully each Den will get their supply of bags
at the next Committee or next Pack meeting.
