Pack Meeting Notes for November 29, 1999
The meeting was held at the Maple East auditorium, starting at 7:00 PM
and ending at around 8:30 PM.
Here's what happened:
- The popcorn money was collected.
- We held the Bobcat Ceremony for some of our new Cubs.
- Mr. Richard Dutton gave a talk about kites. He holds the world-record
for most box kites flown on a single piece of line (160). He presented the
history of kiting, right back from ancient China to the current day.
He brought many different kinds of kites with him, and also a
kite buggy, which can go up to 40 MPH when pulled by a kite! He
ended the presentation with an Australian video showing kite surfing,
which looks really cool.
- Mr. Dutton has a web site located at the URL
http://www.eng.buffalo.edu/~rdutton/kites, which shows some of his kites and accomplishments.
