Pack Meeting Notes for January 24, 2000
The meeting was held at the Maple East auditorium, starting at 7:00 PM
and ending at around 8:00 PM.
Here's what happened:
- Kevin Lanighan made some announcements concerning summer camping:
- People interested in the weekend sessions should try for the
August 5-6 weekend, so that we have a good Pack turnout.
- We have campsite 5a and 5b reserved for the four-day session
on July 27-30.
- We should start collecting money very soon so that we keep
the reservations.
- Copies of the reservation forms were made available.
- He also talked about the Blue & Gold Breakfast:
- It will be on February 27th from Noon until 2:30 PM, at the
Main-Transit Fire Hall, 6777 Main Street.
- Scouts and kids under 3 are free; Adults are $8.50, siblings are $6.50.
- The money should be turned in to the Den Leaders by February 16th, so
that they can bring it to the February 17th committee meeting.
- There will be a buffet-style brunch, followed by the Webelos
Crossover ceremony and presentations from every Den.
- A flyer with all the information was provided.
- Dave Yearke made some other announcement:
- The handouts concerning upcoming dates and summer camping that were
provided at the Pinewood Derby were available in the back of the room.
- A handout regarding a religious patch was provided. The Pack does
not endorse any particular religion, and welcomes the chance to
provide information on awards from other faiths.
- Adult Leader applications should be turned in ASAP.
- The Council is having its annual "University of Scouting" on
February 26th. Leaders are encouraged to attend; pre-registration
is $12.
- A handout with information on the Camperall was provided. We
are encouraging everyone in the Pack to attend.
- Linda Eaton did a fantastic job with her game, "Who Wants to Be a
Cub Scout?" The questions were creative, some of the (false) answers
very funny, and the kids had a great time! (Personally, I think Ditto,
Eevee, and Pikachu badges would be pretty neat ...)
- Pat Perkins then conducted the Webelos Ceremony with the Webelos I Scouts
and their parents. They should be really proud of their accomplishments.
- Linda then did the Webelos Arrow of Light Ceremony for the Webelos II
Scouts. This is the highest award in Cub Scouting, and the only Cub
Scout badge that can be worn on a Boy Scout uniform. Again, the boys
should be very proud of what they've accomplished; it took a lot of work.
- Pat then led us in an inspired sing-a-long of Scout songs. Everyone had
fun singing; parents, Scouts, and siblings alike.
Definitely a great meeting. Linda and Pat deserve special thanks from
everyone for the great job they did organizing and running the meeting.
THANKS!!!!!
