This is a picture of my grandfather, Harvey Albert Yearke, taken while he worked at Curtiss-Wright during World War II. The badge on his pocket, which I scanned in at high magnification, reads, around the circumference, "AIRPLANE DIVISION, CURTISS-WRIGHT CORP. BUFFALO PLANTS", and, in the middle, "SUPERVISION, H. YEARKE, FOREMAN, 28". Click on the picture to get a full-size version.
Here is another picture of him, standing under a P-40 Warhawk, the airplane made famous by the Flying Tigers. Click on the picture to get a full-size version.
Here is a picture of him with a group of co-workers in front of another P-40; according to some friends of mine, this particular plane doesn't look quite like a standard Warhawk model. I magnified this picture, and was able to read some markings on the propeller that's pointing down. It's a bit blurry, but I believe the date on it is "5-19-43", and I'm not sure what the other markings mean. Click on the picture to get a full-size version.
